A Safavid Tinned Copper Calligraphic Kashkul Beggar's Bowl, 17th Century.
This finely hammered hemispherical basin features extensive bands of inlaid Arabic and Persian calligraphy against a tinned copper ground. The upper register showcases flowing nastaʿlīq script filled with invocations and poetic inscriptions, bordered above by a floral arabesque frieze. Below, a lozenge-patterned field alternates between calligraphic cartouches and paired mythical beasts amid scrolling foliage. Twin dragon-head handles project from either side, adding a dramatic sculptural element. The base bears a central medallion with the word "Allah" inscribed in elegant script.
