A Rare Chinese Islamic Cloisonné-Enamel Quran Cover, 19th Century.
A vibrant and intricately enamelled Quran cover with cloisonné enamelwork, produced in China during the 19th century. This hinged book cover is adorned in a rich turquoise blue ground and framed with scrolling floral tendrils, lotus blossoms, and delicate foliate arabesques. The front panel features the name "Allah" in bold black thuluth script enclosed within a lobed medallion. The reverse bears a finely executed cartouche listing some of the Asma’ al-Husna (Beautiful Names of God) in Arabic, outlined over sky-blue enamel. The central spine panel contains smaller circular and diamond-shaped medallions with further names of Allah, flanked by floral motifs. A four-character Qianlong mark appears at the lower edge of the back panel.
